									RANGERS have been installed as hot favourites to sign Jermain Defoe this summer.
The Bournemouth striker was one of a number of names added to Steven Gerrard’s shortlist when he was appointed Ibrox manager.

But the ex-England international’s £65,000-a-week wages have proved a huge stumbling block.
Defoe, 35, returned to training earlier this week as the Cherries squad were put through their paces ahead of the new 2018-19 season.
However, it’s believed a number of clubs have expressed an interest in luring the hitman away this summer.

Defoe is just one season into his lucrative Bournemouth deal, but boss Eddie Howe could sanction a loan deal.
Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are priced at 10/1, while Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday are out at 12/1.
Meanwhile Wes Foderingham is set to quit Ibrox after being told he’s now THIRD choice behind Allan McGregor and Jak Alnwick.
Northern Ireland full-back Lee Hodson could also be on the road out, with Rotherham interested in a loan deal.
Bruno Alves is expected to complete his move to Parma this week, with Steven Gerrard identifying Millwall’s Jake Cooper as a replacement.
