Portugal stopper Alves, 36, was signed by Pedro Caixinha from Cagliari last summer.
But the former Fenerbahce, Zenit and Porto star’s campaign was plagued by injury.

New Gers boss Steven Gerrard revealed last week that he would make a decision on Alves’ future after the World Cup.
He said: “I haven’t spoken to Bruno yet.
“I have given him the respect he deserves as he has got very important things to focus on right now in terms of the World Cup. That should be his priority.
“He will have a break after Portugal either win the tournament or get knocked out and then I will have a conversation with Bruno.”
However, things have progressed following Portugal’s exit at the last 16 stage to Uruguay and Alves will now seal a return to Italy.
His exit will free up £28,000-a-week on wages as Gerrard looks to continue his summer spending spree.
Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Jamie Murphy, Nikola Katic, Connor Goldson, Jon Flanagan and Ovie Ejaria are all on board.
