Gascoigne, now 51, teased Maradona with the caption ‘Happy Wednesday!’ and signed off ‘Football’s Coming Home!’, responding to a picture of the Argentinian in a Colombia shirt ahead of Tuesday’s last 16 clash.
England had the last laugh after their penalty shoot-out win, their first EVER in a World Cup, while Maradona was blasted by Fifa for claiming the win was a ‘theft’.
By contrast, Maradona saw his country kocked out by France, ending a stuttering tournament in which they were held by Iceland and thrashed by Croatia.
The Argentine had been a controversial figure at the tournament, being caught up in a racism scandal against Iceland and needing a medical check-up after appearing to collapse after the win over Nigeria.

To Maradona
